The Santa Monica Mountains Safe Trails Association supports education, volunteer work, youth activity programs, and legislation to promote safe trails in the Santa Monica Mountains.   The SMMSTA works with public agencies, concerned citizens, and homeowner’s associations to identify and ameliorate identified risk for visitors to public park lands and adjacent residential communities.

The SMMSTA was founded by Olivia Aryeh, a lifetime resident of Malibu and resident of the Santa Monica Mountains.   Olivia has a graduate degree from Columbia University, was an Editor and Staff Writer at the Malibu Times, and served the residents of her community, as the City of Malibu’s first Media Information Officer.   In addition to her children and family, Olivia’s passion is exploring our local mountains.

Olivia and her husband, Jason, are dedicated environmentalists and philanthropists.   They serve on several boards of directors for non profit organizations including those that benefit children with life altering illnesses and those that promote animal welfare.   These organizations include the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Gentle Barn.

The SMMSTA has applied for tax exempt status, as a 501c4, non-profit charitable organization with both the Internal Revenue Service and California Franchise Tax Board
